Cuban Fire and Spring Workshops!
All levels welcomed!
Classes will start at a beginner pace and gradually increase at a rate suitable for all participants.
This intensive will focus on dances rooted in Cuban folklore and social life. Over a course of 4 weeks, students will be taught dances and traditions affiliated with the Orishas such as Ochun, Yemeya, Oya, Elegua and Ogun. Class will pay very close attention to details such as movement styling, grooves, and nuances that will better prepare the body for Rumba. As we move to Rumba, students will notice how the style is rooted in the folklore, which will give them a better understanding of the Cuban technique.
Class attendees will have an informal performance at the end of a course which will showcase one male and one female Orisha number and a Rumba number. Performance will be set to live music. Invite friends and family to come out and support for a fee of $5.
