LINDY HOP WORKSHOP
WITH JAREDAN BRAAL and NATHALIE GOMES
Saturday and Sunday June 19 & 20th
Location: Reily center at Tulane University
SATURDAY, June 19:
2pm-3.20pm: How to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)
This class will focus on swing out variations for leads and follows. Leaders will work on creating a framework that allows follows to work on finding their voice and adding to the conversation, without changing the topic.
3.30-4.50pm: Discovering or rediscovering Connection
What are you actually doing when leading or following? This class will develop multiple aspects of connection, giving you a deeper connection to your partner.
5pm-6.20pm: Leading with Finesse & Following with Confidence
Learn the small things that really make a difference in the dancing experience you create, and the subtle details that will keep them coming back for more.
SUNDAY, June 20:
12-1.20pm: Floor Craft
Master the art of taking care of your partner on the dance floor, for both leads and follows. This class will be filled with fun defensive moves and techniques that can be used to react to sudden changes on the floor. It will also focus on building space on the floor so you will not need to worry as much about the other dancers around you.
2-3.20pm: Dancing is a Conversation
Dancing is like a three way conversation between the leader, the follower, and the music. All parts have input into the conversation and can affect where the conversation will go next. Leaders will develop their listening skills while follows will develop their voice.
3.30-4.30pm: Smooth Steals for Jams
Anyone can jump into a steal jam and rip one partner from another, but the steals that are really fun are the ones that you hardly realize have happened. The smoother, the better. In this class we will cover a variety of steals and some helpful techniques that will help you develop your own smooth steals on the spot.
